I heard an analogy about relationships today.
It’s like being on the same train -
some people stay for a few stops, some for much longer.
All we can really do is savour the time we share on the ride.
We might not get off at the same stop, and eventually, we all do.
That’s the part people find scary.
I was tired when I got on the train.
I sat down next to you, and we started talking.
Somehow, you spoke fluent me.
I was so comfortable, so warm, that I drifted off to sleep on your shoulder.
Somewhere along the way, we both missed our stops.
Not because you weren’t paying attention -
but because you were,
and you let me sleep.
Together, it’s been five times around the sun.
